Musa zebrina, also known as Blood Banana, is an ornamental banana tree. It’s native to Sumatra, Indonesia. 

Description 

  • Size: A dwarf grower that usually reaches 10 to 12 feet tall.
  • Leaves: Blue-green leaves with red blotches on top and solid maroon bottoms. The undersides of the leaves and the trunks are also red.
  • Fruit: Small-seeded fruits that are edible.
  • Hardiness zones: Grows in USDA hardiness zones eight through 11.
  • Sunlight: Needs sun to help its foliage and blooms grow.

  • Musa zebrina is a variety of the wild banana Musa acuminata.
  • It’s a great plant for large containers or in the landscape.
  • Container-grown plants can be overwintered indoors if given ample space in a sunny location.

How to Care :

  • Make sure your plants are getting enough water and sunlight.
  • Recommended Soil Media: 40% Garden Soil 25% cocopeat 25% Organic manure/Vermicompost 5% charcoal chips 5% perlite.
  • Fertilize your plants once a month.
  • Avoid over-watering your plants.
  • Cut off any dead or diseased Leaves.
  • Make Sure Pots Have Drainage Holes.
  • Don’t Repot Immediately after received wait for at least 2-3 Days.
